RAGLEY, La. (KPLC) - Carbon sequestration seems to be a real possibility in Southwest Louisiana, but is it safe to pump in CO2 beneath the ground where we live?

Tuesday night, Beauregard Parish residents attended a town hall in Ragley to voice their concerns over the proposed projects.

Mark Guillory, one of the organizers with Save My Louisiana, says meetings like tonight’s are necessary to keep residents informed.

“The public is uninformed. They’re uninformed about what the legislature has done in this area. One of the biggest things that they’ve done is they’ve passed, starting in 2020, they passed Act 61. What Act 61 does is abrogate your rights to property, which is a direct violation of the Louisiana Constitution,” Guillory said.
