ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) – Police are investigating a shooting that injured a man on Monday night near the Ashland riverfront.

According to the Ashland Police Department, the incident was reported just before 8 p.m. at the Port of Ashland Riverfront Park. Officers said it was a domestic disturbance between a man and a woman.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Police said a woman who allegedly shot the man fled the scene but later showed up at the Ashland Police Department to talk about what happened. A gun and other items were taken into custody as evidence.

Investigators said results will be submitted to the Boyd County Commonwealth Office for review.

Police said the shooting was an isolated incident.
