Firefighters on the Beckwourth and Feather River Ranger Districts were successful in treating their planned acreage today.
On the Beckwourth Ranger District, approximately 50 acres of machine piles were successfully ignited. Smoke dispersal was good, not very visible in the area due to cloud cover and winds were pushing it towards Lake Davis.
Tomorrow, firefighters plan to ignite 12 remaining machine piles, as well as fuel reduction to complete some work in nearby recreation sites, conditions permitting.
On the Feather River Ranger District, firefighters successfully completed ignitions treating approximately 80 acres of hand piles. Conditions were ideal and smoke dispersal was excellent. Smoke drift was to the north-northeast and there were no impacts to communities.
