The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted former All-Pro and veteran safety George Odum for a visit on Tuesday. Odum was released in June by the San Francisco 49ers after undergoing offseason elbow surgery, but seems to now be fully recovered.
The visit comes after the Steelers lost special teams captain and All-Pro safety Miles Killebrew to a knee injury. Killebrew has been ruled out of Thursday’s game and is expected to miss a significant portion of time, if not the rest of the season.
Thus, the visit for Odum is not much of a surprise. The 31-year-old has played with the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers, sticking out as one of the NFL’s best special teamers over his career.
