The U.S. men's national team has another top-25 win under Mauricio Pochettino.

The second September game saw the U.S. do so against Japan , though it faced a heavily rotated team. To end October, the U.S. beat Australia 2-1 thanks to a brace from starting striker Haji Wright.

It marked a rare come-from-behind win for the U.S. under Pochettino, while the Socceroos' winning streak that started in September 2024 came to an end in Commerce City, Colorado.

Despite the early U.S. control, it was Australia that struck first in the 19th minute. Off a throw in from the left channel, miscommunication errors from the U.S. allowed left-back Jordan Bos to sneak it and drill a left-footed volley past Matt Freese.
