MORTON, Ill. (WMBD) -- The Morton Police Department announced the results of its recent alcohol and tobacco compliance checks held this weekend.

On Oct. 11, Morton police and the Illinois Liquor Control Commission conducted checks on local businesses to make sure local establishments are following rules that prevent the sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors, Morton Police Chief Shawn M. Darche said.

"We urge all local businesses to comply with state laws and regulations regarding the sale of alcohol and tobacco," Darche said. "Regular compliance checks will continue to be conducted to promote safe and responsible alcohol and tobacco sales."

Five businesses failed the checks. The Walmart on Courtland Street and Monical's Pizza on Jackson Plaza failed the alcohol compliance check and were
