LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Police are rounding out another Citizen’s Academy this fall, with 14 people taking part in learning more about what goes on behind the scenes at LPD.
Tuesday evening brought the recruits out to the Lincoln Airport tarmac for the EVOC, or Emergency Vehicle Operator Course.
The citizens and their instructors got behind the wheel of several police cruisers and a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office pickup truck to practice their driving skills.
There were three different courses, for speed, evasive driving and backing up. Each one is based on real training that officers go through to be more adept at handling their vehicles.
