SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — Dealers at Horseshoe Indianapolis say they’re ready to walk away from the tables and to the picket line after the government shutdown led to their union election being put on hold.

More than 200 table game dealers and dual-rate dealers voted last week to authorize a strike with Teamsters Local 135, the union that already represents slot attendants and warehouse workers at the casino. The vote comes after the National Labor Relations Board postponed the dealers’ official union election due to the ongoing shutdown.

The union says the shutdown froze the election process, which was scheduled for Oct. 17, and that the casino has not agreed to an alternative plan.
