Bengaluru-based autonomous logistics startup Airbound has raised $8.65 million in seed funding, led by Lachy Groom, cofounder of Physical Intelligence, with participation from Humba Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and senior executives from Tesla, Anduril, and Ather Energy, reported the Economic Times (ET).

Founded in 2023 by 20-year-old Naman Pushp, Airbound is developing drones built on a blended-wing-body design capable of both vertical takeoff and fixed-wing flight. Unlike conventional quadcopters, its tail-sitter aircraft takes off like a rocket and flies like a plane. Made from carbon fibre, the drones are lightweight yet highly efficient.

Pushp, who secured his first investment from Lightspeed Ventures in 2024, told ET that the aircraft achieves a 1.5:1 payload-to-aircraft
