The WIAA crowned state champions in girls golf Tuesday.

Peyton Haugen of Brookfield East was the individual medalist in Division 1, crushing the competition with a championship record 12-under par 132 over 36 holes.

Divine Savior Holy Angels won the D-1 team title, and one program notched its best-ever finish at state — that was DeForest in 3rd.

"It was awesome," junior Abigail Henriksen said. "I'm super proud of this team. It was really cool to see it all come together here.

"I'm so proud of us," junior Brinley Goninen said. "They're like my best friends, and I just love playing with them, so it was really cool to come out and do really well."
