OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Ocala Police are thanking the man who spent years serving as one of the department’s chaplains.

Doug Green died at the age of 86 on Monday. He retired in 2023 after nearly three decades of volunteer service.

Ocala Police started the chaplain program in 1996.

Green was one of the four selected to serve the department, offering prayers and support to officers and staff.

The police chief today said the department is deeply saddened to learn about his death.
