RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- As the city’s service center building continues to deteriorate, a five-year budgeting plan will be started to begin saving money to build a new one. Such a long-term plan is needed because a new service center isn’t inexpensive.

Mayor Kim Thomas said that the figure set for a new center is approximately $18 million, although that cost could increase to $25 million or more by the time construction begins.

During his 2026 budget presentation, Service Director Ryan Tiedman spoke before City Council Tuesday (Oct. 14) about the state of the current service center, and the need for a new one.

The current service center building, at 26260 Chardonview Road, dates to 1956, when it was built to house the operations of a dairy farm.
