Looks like love has run its course for Akon and his now ex-wife Tomeka Thiam.

That’s because Thiam was the one who put an end to things as she filed for divorce, with the huge split taking place days before the couple’s 29th wedding anniversary.

The reasoning for the colossal breakup, Thiam cites in documents obtained by both People and TMZ , is irreconcilable differences.

The two tied the knot back on Sept. 15, 1996.

Of Akon’s nine children, according to documents, the couple share one child — a 17-year-old daughter named Journey. Thiam is now seeking joint legal custody and sole physical custody. She’s also seeking spousal support and is attempting to get the court to block the musician from receiving any from her.

Previously, the rapper has said he believes in polygamy.
