BURLINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A vehicle crash has closed a portion of Route 4 in Burlington, fire officials said.

The area between Mountain Spring and Vineyard Road is closed after a vehicle crashed and allegedly broke a utility pole, downed wires, caused a leaking transformer, and burned the pavement, according to fire officials.

Fire officials said the road will remain closed for an extended period while the Connecticut Department of Transportation and Eversource make repairs.
