Motorists are being rerouted off the M5 as firefighters battle a lorry blaze in Devon.

The fire broke out on the carriageway between junctions 30 for Exeter and 29 for Honiton, resulting in the closure of the motorway northbound.

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

An onlooker reported "lots of smoke" emanating from the site and confirmed that "all traffic had been stopped".

Devon and Cornwall Police stated: "We were called to reports of a lorry fire on the northbound carriageway of the M5 between junctions 30 and 29, near Exeter.

"The northbound carriageway has been closed at junction 30. Emergency services remain at the scene. Further updates when we have them."
