Portland (unofficially) made it to 64 degrees Tuesday and will do so again Wednesday under an upper-level ridge keeping clouds at bay.
The National Weather Service says the ridge will slowly slide eastward and de-amplify during the day Thursday allowing for coastal clouds to move into the metro area.
But before the clouds arrive, Portland will see another sunny and clear day Wednesday with high temperatures reaching about 65 degrees, which is exactly average during mid October.
A weak surge of marine clouds is expected Thursday morning, but any rain should be limited to the coast and the Coast Range. Portland will see clouds increase as the day progresses and the high temp will cool to about 61 degrees.
The weather service expects another weak frontal system to move into the region lat
