Eagle Rock — Anyone driving on Townsend Avenue in Eagle Rock recently may have noticed an addition to a home at the intersection with Avenue 51: a wood fence that includes green steel-and-concrete bollards. Behind the fence, in front of the house, are two large, low planters.

The additions seek to prevent a recurrence of an incident last August , when a driver speeding down Townsend missed a stop sign, lost control and careened into the home. Three people were injured, including homeowner Sara Lov and her son, who were in their living room at the time.

Lov said that she and her family are doing great a year after the accident, and have moved into a larger house nearby. However, Lov still owns the home, and said the city has not needed calls from her and others to make the intersec
