Days after a deadly shooting in downtown Washington, Mayor JoJo Burgess is calling out the community to help investigators and stop getting in the way.

Police say 20-year-old Julian Lassic died in the hospital after being shot in an alley off North Main Street around 3 a.m. Saturday. A second shooting victim was also taken to the hospital. Their condition has not been released.

Burgess said his police department is one of the best in the area, but officers can’t do their jobs without cooperation from the public.
