But the video, as a Community Note later clarified, was actually a staged comedy skit by performers known for filming fake “slap battles” in public for social media engagement.

Gill used the fabricated clip to push a tough-on-crime message and incarceration without noting that it was scripted entertainment. His post received over 2 million views.
