An investigation was under way Wednesday morning in the shooting death in South Los Angeles of a man identified on social media as a rapper known in hip-hop circles.

The shooting was reported at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of West Manchester Avenue, just east of Vermont Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers responded to an assault-with-a deadly weapon/shooting call and learned a man in his 20s was involved in a dispute with another man in his 20s, according to the LAPD.

“The suspect fired multiple rounds, striking the victim, then fled in an unknown direction,” a department spokesman said, adding that Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
