A “Bosch” prequel has been greenlit at MGM+ , with Cameron Monaghan set to play the title role.

Variety has learned that MGM+ has ordered “ Bosch: Start of Watch ” to series. Monaghan will play Harry Bosch in his rookie days in the LAPD, with Omari Hardwick set to play veteran officer Eli Bridges.

The series is based on Michael Connelly’s Det. Harry Bosch books, which spawned the original series. Production will begin in Los Angeles in 2026.
