When Rawlings announces the Gold Glove award winners on November 2, there’s a reasonably good chance the Red Sox will have at least one winner.
Boston has three Gold Glove finalists — catcher Carlos Narváez, center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela and right fielder Wilyer Abreu — according to lists released by Rawlings on Wednesday. Each player is one of three finalists at his position.
Abreu, a Gold Glove winner for the first time last season , finished second among AL right fielders in defensive runs saved with 15 (Texas’ Adolis García was first). Abreu is looking to become a repeat winner but only started 104 games in right field, in part due to injury. The other finalists at the position are García and Houston rookie Cam Smith.
