Canon-McMillan got some good news this week as head coach Mike Evans had his final chemotherapy treatment for Stage 4 liver cancer on Monday.
“He had a blood test last week where they told him the results were excellent,” interim coach Brian DeLallo said. “Things look really good.”
This is the second time the 51-year-old Evans has had to deal with a cancer scare. Late in the 2021 football season, he was diagnosed with colon cancer, but after surgery to remove approximately 20 percent of his liver — one of the few organs that can grow back – he’s doing well.
Evans remains on sabbatical, which means he cannot attend football games or have as much contact with the Big Macs players as he would like. But that doesn’t mean he’s not acutely aware of what the team is doing on a play-by-play bas
