CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance considers the “volunteer-driven beverage tents” at the annual Market After Dark to be one of the event’s “most impactful traditions.”

Now they say those tents raised a record amount for local nonprofits.

Metro Economic Alliance says they saw a record 35,200 people attend the event on August 23, and gave $6,815 in tips at those events, which in turn go straight to the nonprofits.

Benefitting from the collection were Retrieving Freedom, YPN, Waypoint Services, Cedar Valley Humane Society, Dupaco, Willis Dady Homeless Services, Cedar Rapids Chorale, The Arc of East Central Iowa, Cedar Rapids Raptors, and the Linn County I Club.
