An Edinburgh event has been scrapped with only two weeks to go as organisers struggle with 'rising costs'.

Fawkes Festival was due to be held at the Royal Highland Centre on November 2, though has been pulled. Those behind the event have said that interest was 'incredibly strong', though maintaining the 'scale, creativity and experience' has proven difficult due to costs .

While this years event is not going ahead, the team have said planning for the 2026 edition is 'already underway'. Those who had tickets have been told they will receive an automatic refund.

Fawkes Festival is described on its website as the "largest bonfire and fireworks event" in the country. Last year, the event welcomed approximately 15,000 visitors from across Scotland and beyond.
