SALT LAKE CITY — A section of State Street in Midvale was shut down Tuesday evening after police said a shooting occurred between two cars.

According to Aymee Race with the Unified Police Department, the cars were heading southbound on State Street when one of them was shot approximately six times by the other. This incident occurred near 8286 North State Street.

Race said both vehicles took off for unknown reasons after the shooting and are not accounted for at this time. Due to this, police do not know if anyone was injured by the shooting and have no suspects. However, Race said, police are looking for a “dark” four-door sedan.

Both the north and southbound lanes of State Street in the area are closed while police investigate.
