EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan State’s men’s golf team closed out play in the St Andrews Links Collegiate on Wednesday afternoon with a 4.5 to 1.5 win over the University of St Andrews in the medal match play round on the historic Old Course.

The Spartans were one of four schools competing in the three-day tournament, which started with two rounds of stroke play competition on the Jubilee Course and concluded with a medal match play round on the Old Course, where the game began centuries ago.

MSU had been leading the field after a 4-under par 346 in Monday’s first round but were edged out in the final holes of stroke play on Tuesday afternoon, finishing in third place at 3-under par 697 (346-351).
