The Food and Drug Administration said in a pair of new health alerts that it has identified additional cinnamon products sold in the U.S. that were found to contain elevated levels of lead.
In a Oct. 8 notice, the FDA published a health alert warning for Durra-brand and Wise Wife-brand ground cinnamon. The agency said samples collected showed elevated levels of lead and warned that "exposure to these products may be unsafe."
A recall was also issued for the impacted products. The recalled Durra cinnamon was distributed by Eureka Inc. to grocery stores in California and Michigan from Aug. 24, 2024 through Oct. 6, 2025. They are packaged in a 3.5 oz clear plastic jar with a green lid and have a UPC code of 6251136 034139 and a Best by date of May 2026.
