Solange Knowles is set to take her musical knowledge and skillset to the classroom. On Monday (Oct. 13), the 39-year-old was announced as the first scholar-in-residence at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. According to the Los Angeles Times, the multihyphenate artist will also join the Dean’s Creative Vanguard Program as the second member, following Raphael Saadiq, who launched the initiative as its inaugural member last December.
In her role, Knowles will lead a custom-designed, three-year residency and develop the school’s first curricular and programmatic offerings in the field of music curation.
