Peterborough’s Clifford Rashotte can call himself a millionaire after winning $1 million from LOTTO 6/49’s Gold Ball Draw on Sept.10, announced on Tuesday.
The 73-year-old has been playing LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX for over 20 years. The father of two and grandfather of one says he plays his own numbers, based on family birthdays and anniversaries.
“I was checking my email while in bed, half-asleep, when I saw a message from OLG,” said Rashotte. “I told myself I didn’t win anything and went back to sleep. When I checked again later, I froze.”
He shared the news with his wife and brother, who didn’t believe it at first.
“It was crazy,” explained Rashotte. “I was just so happy and in total disbelief.”
He says he plans to invest his windfall and complete some home renovations.
