POLK COUNTY, Iowa ( KCCI ) — Iowa farmers are expressing voicing frustration over the Trump Administration’s $20 billion bailout to stabilize Argentina’s economy.

Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent said the U.S. finalized a $20 billion loan with Argentina’s central bank, where the U.S. Treasury will exchange dollars for pesos.

Trump praised the move while hosting Argentine President Javier Milei at the White House this week.

The financial assistance comes as Iowa soybean producers face economic challenges from ongoing trade disputes with China, which typically purchases a quarter of U.S.-grown soybeans every year. The Hawkeye state is the nation’s second-largest soybean producer.

Until the trade dispute is resolved, farmers will need aid to make ends meet.
