WASHINGTON — Journalists from major news outlets are returning their Pentagon press passes after refusing to sign a new Department of Defense policy.
The policy, put in place by the Defense Secretary, requires reporters to agree to certain terms to maintain access inside the building. Those who do not sign must give up their press passes.
Outlets refusing the policy include NBC, CNN, Fox News, Newsmax, and the former employer of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Media organizations say the policy threatens press freedom.
The Trump administration says the changes are meant to protect national security.
