NYC Marathon 2025: This New York Yankees legend will greet runners at start line on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- New York Yankees legend CC Sabathia will be back in the Big Apple on Nov. 2, 2025.

But it won’t be in the Bronx. Instead, he will be at the start line of the TCS New York City Marathon on Staten Island.

Sabathia, who last summer was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, will serve as the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon Grand Marshal, according to the New York Road Runners, who run the NYC Marathon.

In this ceremonial role, Sabathia will lead the more than two million spectators lining the streets of New York City in cheering on 55,000+ marathon runners as they journey to the finish line.
