A 12-inch pipe rupture has led to heavy flooding and some evacuations along an Allentown road, authorities said.

The water main break happened around 12:50 p.m. Wednesday along North 13th Street, between Liberty and Gordon streets, Susan Sampson, communications manager for the Lehigh County Authority, told lehighvalleylive.com.

As of 2:45 p.m., North 13th Street is closed between Liberty and Gordon streets, Sampson said.

The break sent water rushing through the area, with photos showing soaked buildings and a car driving through the heavy, muddy waters.

Two businesses, including a children’s daycare, shut down early as a result of the rupture and evacuated the building, Sampson said.
