PEORIA, Ill. – The victim in a shooting Sunday afternoon in South Peoria had died from his injuries.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says 22-year-old Khmari Rickmon was pronounced dead Tuesday just before 4:15 P.M. He says an autopsy on Rickmon shows he suffered a gunshot wound to the head and suffered injuries that were “inconsistent with life.”

Rickmon was shot in the area of Antoinette and Westmoreland while riding his bicycle Sunday afternoon.

Three teenagers have been arrested on numerous weapons charges in connection to the shooting.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria blasted the state’s juvenile detention system and called for reforms to it, as well as claiming Peoria has an issue with parenting kids and teenagers.
