About “Devil in Disguise”

“Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy” explores the reign of serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Between the years of 1972 and 1978, he abducted, abused, and murdered 33 young men and teenage boys, burying them in the crawlspace beneath his Illinois home. Despite his body count, Gacy long went undetected, even volunteering at children’s parties dressed as Pogo the Clown.

This new Peacock Original series combines devastating stories of the victims, their friends, and family members with Gacy’s personal history and the ways in which the system fell short — exposing oversights and biases that allowed his brutality to carry on for so long.
