A member of the Lethbridge Hurricanes will represent Canada at a major international hockey tournament.
Leif Oaten will serve as one of two goaltenders for Team Canada Red.
The 16-year-old from Calgary recently attended the World U-17 Development Camp and will be the only goalie from the WHL to compete this year.
Oaten was selected by the Hurricanes in the third round (58th overall) of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
He appeared in four games with the team this past season, recording a 4.77 goals against average and a .862 save percentage.
Most of the 2024-25 season was spent with the Calgary Edge School in the Canadian Sports School Hockey League U18, where he finished with an 11-7-1 record with a 2.42 GAA and a .922 SV% with two shutouts.
