The Troy Fire Department kept a vehicle fire in the parking garage at the Somerset Collection shopping center from damaging other vehicles or the garage.
The fire broke out Monday morning, Oct. 13, in the garage at the shopping mall at 2800 W. Big Beaver Road at Coolidge Highway.
Fire Lt. Keith Young said the cause is under investigation; it appears the fire started in the vehicle’s engine bay.
In a Facebook post, the Fire Department thanked the Troy police and Somerset security for assisting with traffic control.
One commenter on the post said, “And this is why I don’t drive electric cars.”
Young said, however, that the vehicle that caught fire had a gasoline engine.
