ANGOLA, La. —
The last inmate captured after a jailbreak at the Orleans Parish jail has been arraigned.
Derrick Groves, who was extradited after being captured in Atlanta, made his first court appearance in Louisiana. Advertisement
Groves was arraigned over Zoom from Angola.
He pleaded not guilty in connection with the escape.
His next court hearing is Oct. 30.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill issued the following statement:
"We will ensure he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," she said.
The other nine inmates pleaded not guilty in connection with the escape back in July.
