PITTSBURGH —
A student and a staff member of Westinghouse Academy were taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle outside of the school in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.

Sky 4, Pittsburgh's only news chopper, showed Pittsburgh police cars and school police vehicles at North Murtland Street and Monticello Street.
The crash happened around 3:00 p.m.
Video from Sky 4 showed a red SUV being towed away. Debris was scattered on the sidewalk.
Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said a 12-year-old boy sustained traumatic injuries to his lower body and was transported to UPMC Children's Hospital in critical condition. He was taken into surgery immediately, according to police.
