FRANKFORT, Ky. (WSMV) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has issued its annual “Antler Alert” as deer activity on state roadways increases throughout the last three months of the year.
The alert serves as a reminder for drivers to remain vigilant and watch for wildlife on the roads.
According to State Highway Engineer James Ballinger, there is a sharp rise in deer-related crashes during the last three months of the year.
“Last November, we had more than 700 wildlife collisions – the highest of any month. Drivers should be extra alert, especially at dawn and dusk, and slow down in areas where deer are likely to cross. A moment of caution can prevent a serious crash,” he said.
