The Town of Bassendean has received $200,000 to install a turf injection system at three of its sporting facilities, including Bassendean Oval.

The system allows wetting agent and fertiliser to be applied through irrigation, which aims to reduce water demand while improving plant health.

The funding is part of the $4 million Gnangara Waterwise Councils Grants Program, with half of the funds being distributed to nine local government authorities with projects now either completed or reaching completion.

Other councils included are the cities of Joondalup, Wanneroo and Vincent.

The City of Vincent also received $200,000, which was spread over several projects across the city including installing weather stations and soil moisture probes.
