WOODSTOCK, N.Y. — Buddhist monks from Tashi Kyil Tibetan Buddhist Institute in the town of Kingston will be creating a “world peace sand mandala” at Woodstock Library on Saturday, Oct. 18, according to an announcement.
The mandala, which monks will start working on Thursday, Oct. 16, will be on display at the library, 5 Library Lane, before it is dissolved on Sunday, Oct. 19. A mandala is a geometric configuration of symbols used in religions like Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism.
An opening ceremony will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday. On Friday, Oct. 17, the monks will be at the institute, 875 state Route 28, for a momo-cooking event from 5 p.m. Registration is $30.
Accompanying the mandala on Saturday will be a full celebration from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the library. From 1
