AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is involved in a shoot-out with suspect.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 5700 block of Deans Bridge Road.

During a traffic stop, a Black male with a white shirt with dreads fled from an officer and then fired gunshots, according to deputies.

Units from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Georgia State Patrol responded.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
