Coverage of certain treatments for transgender North Carolinians on the State Health Plan will soon be eliminated now that a federal court ruling has gone into effect in North Carolina.

Coverage for puberty blockers, hormone treatments and gender-transition surgeries will be blocked following an order Wednesday that allows the state to block the coverage. People who receive therapy for transgender-related issues will still be covered for that treatment, the State Health Plan said.
