SUGAR LAND, Texas – The City of Sugar Land says mosquitos collected in the city have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The mosquitos were collected near Greatwood Parkway and Wood Dale Drive.
In response, the city says it has increased mosquito treatment in surrounding areas.
They also continue to closely coordinate with the Texas Department of State Health Services to monitor and reduce the risk to people.
The city recommends people protect themselves from mosquitos by using insect repellent with DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
Wearing long sleeves and pants outdoors as well as avoiding being outside at dusk and dawn is also recommended.
