TEXAS COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) - A man who murdered a Lee’s Summit teen has died, leaving 14 years of his sentence unserved.

The Missouri Department of Corrections says that around 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, inmate Trevaris Rachel, 32, was pronounced deceased.

Corrections officials noted that Rachel had been taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri, before his death.

Rachel had been serving a 22-year sentence for the murder of then 17-year-old Matthew Parker. He was sentenced in 2017.

In 2014, the Lee’s Summit Police Department said Rachel and his co-defendant, Jalen Randolph, 32, were arrested outside Randolph’s home.
