Longmont transportation staff has presented the city’s comprehensive crash report to the Transportation Advisory Board, showing a steady decline in total crashes and serious injuries compared to pre-COVID years.

The findings reflect progress toward the city’s Vision Zero initiative, which aims to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries by 2040.

In 2024, there were 1,982 total crashes on city roadways, down from 2,051 in 2023, according to the report, presented Monday evening. Of those, 55 resulted in a fatality or serious injury. While six of those crashes were fatal, an increase from four the year prior, the overall number of severe incidents has fallen over the past several years.
