GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In 2024, Wisconsin saw a total of 99 domestic violence related homicides.

Milwaukee and Dane County with the highest totals, but there were 11 homicides in Northeast Wisconsin, four of those in Winnebago County.

Those numbers come from the 23rd annual report put out by End Domestic Violence Wisconsin; their numbers go back to 2020, and the 99 total deaths are highest total in the last 25 years.

But while these stark numbers highlight the problem of domestic violence, those same statistics can de-humanize the problem.
