A sale of the former Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg scheduled for Thursday has been canceled, according to the Dauphin County Sheriff’s Office.
Property owner Jeremy Hunter of William Penn Holdings told PennLive he paid $2 million in mortgage debts he owed on the property at 2200 Market St.
“My commitment today is the same as it was years ago, that Harrisburg is a great place to live in, Harrisburg is a great place to invest in and it’s future is bright,” Hunter said.
The news is another twist in a long saga for the former Catholic high school that Hunter purchased for $300,000 from the Diocese of Harrisburg in 2019.
A previous sheriff’s sale in July was postponed.
That sale was initiated after Hunter failed to pay off debt from two mortgage loans within a 60-day time fram
